Senior Editorial Strategist
A profound appreciation for the impact that language/content has on how we perceive and build our image/version of the world.
Education: 1-12: Music & Arts, University majors: Journalism (2 years), Psychology/Liberal Arts (4 years), MBA: Global Business (in progress).
Early career: My first job was in TV, as the daily/evening/program announcer, then news highlights announcer, followed by Radio investigative reporter and morning radio host, transitioning into writing, and eventually, fully embracing all that Digital Marketing was starting to offer, eventually leading Digital Transformation / Business Strategy / SEO / Content Strategy for brands, while working in an agency, or doing private consulting.
Editorial career - and the A-HA moment: I've been a pro-bono (read underpaid, unpaid, and definitely uncredited) editor, ghostwriter, and co-writer, my entire career, having edited multiple NYTs Best Selling List books, new authors' debut novels, non-native English authors' books and articles into elegant, meaningful English, and about 15 years of marketing copy, from articles to ads to speeches, press releases brochures, manuals, and you name it. Starting in 2010, I almost unpercievably transitioned into official (read paid) editorial roles, gradually taking on more responsibility in roles such as digital editor, EN editor, content lead (yes, that's mainly editorial work, on a background of digital marketing), editorial strategist, and editor-in-chief roles.
By 2015, with 5 years in the editorial/journalism/narrative writing world, I was finding myself repeatedly hit by the magnitude of the impact that media has on our society, and the absolute necessity to change/improve/complete this media narrative that was essentially shaping public opinion, public view of how our society works, feeding public biases, promoting fake/unfounded news, creating separation and perpetuating inequalities, swaying public opinion whatever which way the major power players wanted it to go, and basically showing a very distorted picture of what our society is composed of.
In January 2016 I took the entrepreneurial/editorial plunge and built The Business Magazine for Women, followed by the Wonder Women podcast in 2018, and the Future of Work conference in 2019. The magazine is aimed at a global English-speaking business and tech audience, with the goal to showcase female role models across business, finance, tech, STEM, politics, sports, arts and culture. The magazine's main content focus is on creating in-depth content showcasing female role models/industry leaders, touching on the current business and tech trends, exploring female thought leadership at each generational/career level, presenting the mostly un-seen/un-represented part of our society, leading women over 25 years old, women of all races, backgrounds, sexual orientation.
With a fast-growing subscriber base across all platforms, a proper business and tech audience comprised of 46% male viewership, and a global audience with traction in major cities across the US, UK, EU, Australia, China and India, I built a team, and together we produced 4 issues, over 60 podcast episodes (over 35 still in production), and the Future of Work conference. The magazine has been featured in the Top 10 Women's Business Magazines every year starting in 2017. But to me, this doesn't say much about our magazine, but more so about the penury of content in this field, the lack of representation of women in business in the media.
Today: I continue to be an editorial strategist, consulting with brands on their content strategy and editorial strategy, digital transformation, digital marketing implementation, and automation, vision, mission, and culture alignment with the overall business/marketing/editorial strategy. I am also working on chapter 2 of The Business Magazine for Women, and all of its associated channels, including the podcast, conference and other properties.
Interests: I'm fascinated by the creativity and resilience of the human spirit. I am particularly interested in the arts, modern art, oils and sculpture, opera and classical music. I am working on understanding humanity via deep explorations in anthropology, psychology, neuroscience, AI, astrophysics, interpersonal communications, and the study of the evolution of language to reflect the current society's interests. I'm trying to see where we're going as a society by tracking cutting-edge technologies in gene editing, artificial intelligence, space exploration, renewables, and sustainability. Also very interested in identifying the global power players in business, finance, energy, politics, telecom and media, exploring what drives them and their success, which of those drives/decisions impact the global economy, and therefore, our entire society.
Focus: showcasing female leadership, role models for both men and women, experts in their field, in an effort to expand the societal narrative to an all-inclusive view of our society. Equality, equal representation in the media, balanced portrayal of all demographics in the media, aspiring stories of human creativity, innovation, resilience, and deep care for our home, our hurtling spaceship, planet Earth.
